Paragraph Flow And Reverse Outline

Objective

Check whether a section is easy to follow from a reader's perspective before polishing sentence style.

Paragraph Test

For each paragraph, answer:

1. What is the one message of this paragraph?
2. Does the first sentence state or clearly prepare that message?
3. Does every sentence connect to the previous sentence by cause, contrast, consequence, refinement, or example?
4. Are key nouns and technical terms defined before reuse?
5. Does the paragraph connect back to the section objective?

Reverse Outline

Build a compact reverse outline:

Section objective:
P1 topic sentence -> evidence/explanation -> role
P2 topic sentence -> evidence/explanation -> role
P3 topic sentence -> evidence/explanation -> role

Flag any paragraph whose topic sentence does not map to the section objective, or whose evidence does not map to the topic sentence.

Transition Diagnosis

Use explicit relation labels before suggesting words:

Relation	Use When	Typical Signal

contrast	next sentence limits or opposes	however, in contrast
consequence	next sentence states result	consequently, as a result
refinement	next sentence narrows meaning	specifically, in particular

Do not add transitions that fake logic. If the relation is missing, propose a bridging sentence or reorder paragraphs.
