CVPR Cover Letter
CVPR and sister vision venues (ICCV, ECCV, WACV) do not use a cover letter for the main track — submission is through the structured CMT / OpenReview forms, not a free-form letter. Use this snapshot only when a venue or workshop explicitly requires one. The declarations below describe what such a letter would contain.
Tone
- Empirically focused. Vision reviewers expect strong benchmark evidence.
- Concise; do not pad with motivation already present in the abstract.
Opening
- One sentence stating the technical contribution (architecture, training paradigm, dataset, benchmark).
Contribution Framing
- Three concise contributions.
- One quantitative anchor (typically a benchmark result with the dataset named).
- Acknowledge the comparison set briefly.
Journal Fit
- Two sentences connecting the contribution to the CVPR scope.
Declarations (Required for CVPR)
- Originality and dual-submission compliance.
- Anonymized submission confirmation (CVPR uses double-blind review).
Length
- Hard ceiling: 400 words.
Common Desk-Reject Triggers
- Anonymization violation in the manuscript that bleeds into the cover letter.
- Benchmark results without naming the dataset, split, or protocol.
